In This Journey…

Your not where you used to be but your not where your supposed to be.  What do you do in the meantime?  Culture changes.  People change.  Systems and structures change.  I’ve been told for years that anytime there is tension or shifting in an organization or lifestyle you will always feel the paradigm of “Change-Conflict-Growth”.  I hear that and I understand that but what are the emotions in the meantime?  What are the emotions that you feel during change?  What are the emotions that you feel in the middle of conflict?  Do you even feel emotions during growth?  Do you even know your going through the growth to feel anything or do you not feel the emotions from the previous growth until you face the next change?

In every situation in life there is the meantime.  Have you ever noticed that SportsCenter doesn’t show the meantime?  They show the highlights, the key moments, the big shots, they show the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat.  In our lives we only like the highlights and we let the meantime pass.  We are quick to get from destination to destination and we don’t embrace the meantime.

In the meantime is exactly where I am at.  I’m not where I used to be but I am not where I am supposed to be.  Maybe some of you feel the same way. You feel a little lost.  You feel disappointment.  You feel discouraged.  But…you also feel hope.  You feel a sense of wonderment.  You feel a bit of anticipation.

May I encourage you to not let the meantime pass.  May I encourage you to embrace those moments in your life where you feel lost and without direction.  It is in those moments that you are forced to look deeper than you ever have before.  It is in those moments that you are forced to look to God who loves you and who is relentlessly showering His love down on you.

It may be in the meantime that you find where you were supposed to be headed the entire time.  Maybe without the meantime you may have very well remained where you used to be and simply missed out.  Embrace the conflict.  Embrace the change.  Embrace the growth.  Enjoy the journey.

Dont neglect or negate the stage of “in the meantime.”
